Autumn

Here we are the last weekend in this very very Autumnal month October. The clocks go back tomorrow and it’s the weekend of the semi finals of the RWC, Rugby World cup in Japan. What worries me as an avid rugby fan is this. Do Japan change the clocks the same time as us and what time is kick off tomorrow (Sunday).

We watched the English beat New Zealand today absolutely fantastic, so it’s my team Wales against S.Africa in the other semi final. Would’nt it be wonderful to have two Northern hemisphere teams in the final next week.

The Autumn rugby series that are unusually curtailed by the RWC and instead Wales under new management are playing the Barbarians next month.

Do you know it used to be traditional to either have an orange at half time, or a cup of tea, well I certainly know football players did. I wonder if this still holds or whether tea has been superseded by some isotonic drink, or whatever it is they call it.

Autumn that’s the name of this little blog, and I rambled on about rugby so sorry. The weather has been atrocious and the idea of those clear crisp blue sky days appear far away what with all the storms we’ve been having. Our local church had their Autumn harvest supper and vast quantities of tea were consumed.

Seasons are definitely changing and less predictable than they used to be. As a lad I remember us all clambering under Horse Chestnut trees throwing sticks to knock off the conkers, then weeks of playing with them until we all got fed up or the conkers disintegrated . Anyone else of a certain age remembers this?

Pass on your memories we’d love to hear from you
